Christmas Book Reports

Christmas Book Reports

In December we finished our book reports about a favorite Christmas book. We read the book, completed fact sheets and illustrations on the main character. setting, problem and solution. Then we folded it accordion style and added a boy to make it look like a present. We placed them under the tree to be unwrapped and read to the class.

Our art teacher came in and taught us how to draw Baby Jesus. We used watercolors and then were able to paint salt on the drawings to make them sparkle and add texture. We drew Baby Jesus in his manger with the star shining above.

Teddy Bear Baptism

On Friday we brought our teddy bears to school and completed our unit on Baptism. Fr. Angelo was there at the church with us and explained the symbols of Baptism. Father showed us the oil, candle and font and explained the meaning of each one.  We were able to place the holy water on our bears and baptize them. It was so fun to learn about Baptism and to actually walk through a real baptism with our bears. - 2LC Foodies

Gizdich Ranch Opinion Piece Writing

Gizdich Ranch Opinion Piece Writing

After our field trip to Gizdich Ranch, we came back and wrote an opinion piece on the trip. We had to say in our topic sentence our opinion of the trip. First we made the topic sentence, wrote three facts about why we liked/disliked the trip, and came up with supporting details for our facts and created a conclusion. Then, we edited our outline and created a rough draft. We edited again and added description and more complete details. The final step was recopying the final draft. It took one week to complete the writing process.
